The value of woman empowerment is more thoroughly recognised in those regions in which it is lacking.
The starting point for women empowerment begins with her enjoying the benefits of education, privileges in the workforce and entitlements from other areas that put her on equal footing with her men counterpart.
From the onset His Majesty Sultan Qaboos has always been supportive of the concept of gender equality, which can be seen through his endeavours to empower Omani women and his encouragement to bettering the positions they hold in various fields in society including the political and the economic spheres.
Due to his Majesty's ongoing efforts towards women's rights Oman is recognised as one of the most advanced and liberal countries within the Gulf when put in the context of women empowerment.
In a bid to further expand the representation of women in the overall process of development, upgrade their status in all sectors and reinforce their role in society, the 1st Oman Extraordinary Women Conference 2013 will see local and global influential women from various organisations coming together and sharing their stories, struggles, triumphs and skills for success with attendees. These women hailing from different walks of life, backgrounds, professions and religions will highlight the need for greater self reliance among Omani women and bring about change, both in their lives and that of the community.
The two day Conference will highlight various themes related to women empowerment through enlightening sessions and panel discussions and will honour Extraordinary Women who have contributed to the social and economical development of the country.
