Egypt, Jordan get free phone link for Middle East, worldwide hotel reservations

By calling the newly-introduced toll-free numbers in Egypt - 0800-4433322 - and Jordan - 800-22666 - travel agents, as well as business and leisure travellers, make direct contact with the Six Continents Hotels Middle East Central Reservations Office (MECRO) in Dubai.

Bilingual reservations agents are available seven days a week to quickly confirm bookings at more than 3,300 InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites and Forum hotels worldwide.

Six Continents Hotels opened MECRO in May, and the response from travel agents and members of the public has far surpassed expectations, with an average of more than (16,000) callers using the new reservations hub.

"We started off with toll-free lines in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and we have now added toll-free lines in Egypt, as well as Jordan, in response to demand," said Magdi Samman, area director, sales and marketing, Six Continents Hotels, Middle East and Africa, based at the company's regional headquarters in Cairo.

"The beauty of the system is that it makes it so quick and easy to book rooms at our hotels anywhere in the world, by making a free phone call.

"Travel agents in Egypt and Jordan, as well as individuals making their own travel arrangements, will welcome the opportunity to be able to make reservations through one central point, rather than having to contact hotels individually."

As well as making hotel bookings overseas, callers from Egypt and Jordan can use the toll-free line to book rooms at 64 properties managed by Six Continents Hotels in the Middle East, including 11 InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn properties in Egypt, and four in Jordan.
