Currently more than 25% of HSBC's employees are UAE nationals. Earlier this year, HSBC was once again recognised as the leading foreign bank in the UAE for employment and training of nationals in the banking sector at the National Career Exhibition for Banking and Financial Sector. In 1999 and 2000 the bank was similarly recognised for its role in developing careers for nationals. At a GCC level in October last year, the bank was named best institution in the field of nationalization and development of national staff among private sector companies in the UAE by the GCC Labour and Social Affairs Ministers' Council.
