EAD and Sorouh launch 'Green Your Life' campaign
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, June 10 - 2009 at 13:34
- PRESS RELEASE
'Green Your Life', an innovative online campaign to educate people on how to become more environmentally responsible in their own homes, was today launched by Environment Agency - Abu Dhabi (EAD), in partnership with Sorouh Real Estate PJSC.
Initiated and conceptualized by EAD and designed by Sorouh, Green Your Life features advanced animated graphics and a 3D virtual tour of a typical UAE home, drawing on designs and concepts from Sorouh. Once on the Green Your Life page within EAD's website, visitors can move their mouse throughout the house, which shows the main facilities within a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom and a living room.
Different items in the virtual home are then displayed on the screen, giving helpful tips and information as users scroll across them.
As an example, by clicking on the virtual oven in the kitchen, Green Your Life informs you that convection ovens are more energy-efficient because they cook up to 30% faster than a regular oven. Clicking on the bathroom you are advised to turn the tap off while brushing your teeth and in the virtual garden you are recommended to water your plants before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
On behalf of H.E Majid Al Mansouri, Secretary General of EAD, Laila Al Hassan, EAD's Deputy Manager, Media and Fahad al Ketbi, Chief Commercial Officer of Sorouh, officially launched the website feature during a press conference held at EAD's headquarters.
"We are proud of Green Your Life because it is an innovative and unique way to promote awareness. Through it, we are showing the public that small behavior changes within their own home can make a big difference in our environment," Al Hassan.
"We value our strong partnership with Sorouh, one of the UAE's leading property companies. Not only are they a member of our Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group but also both organizations share a common goal of creating sustainable communities in Abu Dhabi," she added.
He also thanked the media for their significant role in helping EAD to promote public environmental awareness.
"We are delighted to be working with EAD on this important and exciting project. Green Your Life is an accessible and easy way for the whole family to get important tips on how to save energy in the home," said Fahad al Ketbi, Sorouh.
"Sorouh is focused on creating sustainable communities for all of Abu Dhabi's residents. But sustainability is not just the responsibility of companies; everyone must take individual responsibility to protect Abu Dhabi's current and future environment. This project is a perfect way to provide information on how we can each be a little more environmentally friendly," he added.
