As the successor to the NEC MD21GS-3MP, the new NEC MD213MG offers the latest high quality UA-SFT (IPS) panel technology and is excellent for deployment in PACS systems used by trained practitioners for medical diagnosis.

With its highly precise DICOM reproduction capability, the NEC LCD display is ideal for primary diagnoses in radiology, or in the areas of computer and magnetic resonance tomography, as well as positron emission tomography (PET) imaging in nuclear medicine.

"Viewing screens in the medical sector are in high demand currently, because hospitals today want to ensure that all accessing specialist departments and referring clinicians see consistent and reliable digital picture information. This is because most x-ray and cross-sectional pictures are displayed in grayscales. The NEC MD21GS-3MP offers exceptionally high brightness and contrast ratios, making it ideal for a variety of diagnostic imaging and clinical applications requiring gray-scale tones,"

explained Ian Gobey, the Middle East General Manager for NEC Display Solutions.

"The new NEC MD21GS-3MP display systems are an excellent complement to our existing line of diagnostic and clinical grayscale displays."

Gobey further added that NEC's medical display solutions are known industry-wide for their diagnostic precision, reliability and durability. The NEC MD213MG achieves a maximum native brightness of up to 1450 cd/mē. The high quality panel features an outstanding black level and a native resolution of 2048x1536 to support exact reproduction of even the finest details. To ensure homogenous brightness distribution across the complete display area, the NEC MD213MG has been equipped with the digital uniformity control (DUC) feature.

In addition, an integrated sensor located directly on the display surface measures the brightness and DICOM conformance exactly as seen from the viewer's perspective. This front sensor is maintenance free, easier to handle than an external sensor accessory and even allows remote conformance testing, all of which can bring significant cost and time savings. For the rapid exchange and archiving of digital medical images within the clinical and practice environments, the DICOM curve is already pre-set in the display during factory production, but is also accurately defined through calibration of the 13.5-bit Look Up Table.

With these features the NEC MD213MG satisfies all quality assurance requirements for diagnostic displays, such as the DIN V6868-57 Category A standard and AAPM-TG18 Primary Class. Additionally, the NEC MD213MG achieves the EU directive MDD 93/42/EC for medical equipment. The NEC GammaCompMD Client software that is included in delivery enables efficient accomplishment of the DICOM conformance tests for device consistency. This guarantees stable image reproduction quality over the complete lifetime of the display as set out by the required quality assurance standards.

Particular precision during calibration is also offered by the 13.5 look-up tables that permit especially fine gray-scale gradations and more exact nuances of even the finest details.

De-calibration is prevented by storing calibration data within the display and by locking the monitor against any manual readjustments. Equipped with the latest features, the NEC MD213MG is characterised by its high-quality ergonomics. It can be rotated and tilted and also height-adjusted by up to 150 mm to allow comfortable and individualised workplace optimisation.

The NEC MD213MG is commercially available with immediate effect from NEC Display Solutions or from certified medical equipment suppliers. NEC Display Solutions offers a three-year warranty for its devices including backlights.
