Ibsar to launch project on food security and dietary diversity

As part of its "Traditional Knowledge" program, the Nature Conservation Center for Sustainable Futures, Ibsar, at the American University of Beirut (AUB) will launch the project titled "Food and Health in Rural Lebanon: Options to Improve Dietary Diversity, Food Security, Livelihoods and Ecosystem Management" on Friday June 19th 2009, at 3:00 pm at the AUB AREC in Housh Sneid, Baalbeck.
The project's goal is to reduce the vulnerability of poor rural communities to human health problems caused by ecosystem and global food market changes by promoting ecosystem approaches to human health. The project targets 3 rural communities namely: Batloun (Chouf), Arsal (Beqaa) and Khouiekh (Beqaa) and will run for 3 years (2009- 2012).
During the conference, the research team will display the project objectives and methodologies in a one hour open poster forum, during which the guests can learn aboutthe various project activities while interacting closely with the project team.
This will be followed by a one hour discussion session where participants will contribute to the project objectives and methodologies by sharing their own feedback, ideas and recommendations.
