Phoneserve launches SIP client at Gitex

Phoneserve, the leading Internet telephone pre-paid calling card company, is launching its SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) client at GITEX, taking place at the World Trade
Centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 13-17 October 2002 (Stand B1-30, Hall 1).

London, United Kingdom
The technology enables small offices, Internet cafés and phone shops using networks to make concurrent calls from different machines behind a proxy, firewall or DSL router.

Delivering full Internet telephone functionality, the Phoneserve SIP client operates through:

NAT (network address translation) and
PAT (port address translation) devices

The new client overcomes the problems of VoIP (voice over IP)
communications within environments utilising firewalls and proxy servers.

In addition, PCs with an Internet broadband connection such as ADSL or ISDN can now enjoy high quality VoIP telephony from Phoneserve.

Paul Duffy, managing director of Phoneserve, says, "Phone shops and Internet cafés right across the Middle East will be able to offer their customers the best call quality at the lowest prices with the introduction of the Phoneserve SIP client. Whilst the company has been running on SIP with our partner Microsoft for the past year, our migration to the SIP
protocol is driven by a number of factors including the ability to integrate with existing Internet standards such as HTML, and in the future, video conferencing and presence monitoring."
