The bank, encouraged by the overwhelming response from its growing customer base on the recent launches of its Internet banking services Al Islami Online and its telephone banking service Al Islami Mubasher, is on the anvil of an ambitious technology and marketing drive to upgrade its retail customer operations in the UAE.

Commenting on the bank's new drive, Mr. Saad Abdul Razak, Executive Director for Consumer Banking Services, DIB said: "The face of banking in the UAE has changed dramatically in the past few years, with concepts such as convenience and "24-hours a day, 7-days a week" banking taking firm roots. We want to be within reach of our clients at their convenience and at their choice of time and place. This is where technology enables us to bring the most innovative services to our growing customer base.

"The early technology adapters among banks have been the ones to thrive. DIB has firmly cemented its place among the top echelons by our commitment to using technology to bring us ever closer to our customers." added Mr. Abdul Razak.

The bank, which has a dedicated large stand in Hall 6 of the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, will provide extensive briefings to individual and corporate visitors on its range of services in addition to the exciting launches of new products and services that are in the pipeline.

"At Gitex, we will be able to do provide vignettes of the future banking scenario by showcasing the latest in IT-enabled services from our ever expanding portfolio," said Mr. Abdullah Al Hamili, Executive Director, IT & Human Resources, DIB.

"Our 24/7 online services have helped us attract more new customers, especially among the youth and women. More than anything, this speaks volumes about the level of awareness and acceptance by the UAE residents to new concepts in banking," Mr. Al Hamili concluded.

Established on 1975, Dubai Islamic Bank is considered to be the first Islamic bank in the world that has implemented the principles of Islam in all its practices. It was founded with active assistance of the UAE Government, the Central Bank and people of the UAE.

The economic and business philosophy of Islam encourages generation and sharing of profits. However, it forbids giving or taking of interest. Dubai Islamic Bank is the first Islamic bank in the world to practically implement this concept. Leveraging the strengths of Islamic business and economic concepts on one hand and state-of-the-art banking technology on the other, DIB creates partnerships with its customers to generate profits, which are then shared with them. DIB has created a vast array of Islamic banking and finance products to suit every conceivable need of its customers.
