Participation of Sharjah Museums Department in "Seyaha 2009"

Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) participated in Abu Dhabi Holidays & Travel Show entitled "Seyaha 2009" at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).

H.E Saleh Rashed Hamad Al Dhaheri, Board Member, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry opened the exhibition.

Sharjah Natural History & Botanical Museum, Al-Eslah School, Sharjah Heritage Museum, and Al-Mahatta Museum have participated in the exhibition.

Sharjah Natural History & Botanical Museum exhibits natural and environmental history of UAE through displaying animals and plants; In addition to exhibiting interpretations about the 17 museums of Sharjah. While Al-Mahatta Museum exhibited pictures showing the different stages of building the Sharjah Old Airport, and a model of an old aircraft. Sharjah Heritage Museum exhibited some herbs used in traditional medicine.

Al-Eslah school, which is considered to be the first formal school in Sharjah exhibited some old tools used in first schooling system.

Through this participation, Sharjah Museums Department aims at promoting tourism by playing an effective role along with government bodies to achieve understanding, appreciation and respect for Sharjah's identity and for the value of its cultural and natural heritage locally and internationally, beside building mutual relationship between museums on one hand, and tourism bodies on the other hand.

In addition to the 50 participating agencies, regional and international government participations from UAE, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Malaysia, India, Turkey, Iran, and Korea included, Airlines, Travel Agencies, Hotels, Resorts, as well as Antiquities and Museums bodies were in place.
