int@j hosts Red Hat

The ICT Association in Jordan (int@j) in corporation with Redhat and Savvytek "Red Hat Premier Business Partner in the Region" and with support from the USAID-funded SABEQ Program conducted an Open Source Software Workshop titled "Achieving faster growth and success while reducing spending" on Monday June 15th, 2009 at the Landmark hotel in Amman.

The event focused on introducing Open Source Software Technology to the Jordanian market, discussing factors that drive growth of the Open Source Software community and the benefits and value of the collaborative development model and how Open Source Software can help different sectors minimize the impact of the global financial crisis; by adopting a top-notch technology with lower Total Cost of Ownership.

Red Hat highlighted some of the latest trends and solutions in the Open Source Software market and how Open Source covers a large variety of business requirements on different levels in vertical sectors such as Financial, Tourism and Hospitality, Energy, Pharmaceuticals, Transportation, Telecom, and Government.

The event also demonstrated couple of Open Source Software implementation success stories in Jordan, in addition to one-on-one meetings between Red Hat and Jordanian companies from different sectors, in which technology and business opportunities were discussed and highlighted.

The Information Technology Association of Jordan is an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry-support association founded in 2000 with the aim of improving the dynamics of Jordan's ICT market and developing the Kingdom's ICT related activities.
