The conference was launched in Amman, Jordan, on the 1st of June 2009 under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, and was attended by representatives from over 180 regional telecom companies.

As the first Iraqi telecom company to participate in an event of this caliber, Asiacell sponsored and took part in the conference in light of the considerable growth that the regional and international telecom markets are currently witnessing in terms of increased competition and the advancement of products and businesses.

"Our participation in this conference has proven to be an important step that has given us the opportunity to share our experience with others, which we, as an Iraqi company with significant nationalistic goals, are extremely proud of,"
said Dr. Diar Ahmad, CEO of Asiacell.

"This conference presented an ideal platform for the region's leading telecom operators to meet and discuss key sector issues and the role that the private sector plays in the telecom sector's development. The conference also opened doors for mutual cooperation between Arab companies operating in the same field, which served to further our aims of developing and expanding our operations and building on our achievements, so that our efforts may help the Iraqi telecom sector gain an advanced position at the regional level," he added.

It is worth noting that despite the various security and governmental challenges that Asiacell regularly faces in Iraq, it has proven its ability to tackle these obstacles and actively contribute to building the new Iraq. Today, Asiacell is the first and only telecom company that currently provides mobile telecom coverage to all of the Iraqi provinces.

It was also categorized as one of the ten fastest growing mobile telecom companies in the Middle East and Africa region in a recent study published by The Mobile World, a market data and analysis company focused exclusively on the mobile telecommunications sector. Moreover, the company was recently able to complete building 100 communication towers in Iraq within one month, which represents a considerable achievement that sets a new record.
