Lovells advises on sovereign sukuk for the government of Bahrain

Lovells acted as counsel to the lead managers, Calyon, Deutsche Bank and HSBC, on a $750,000,000 sukuk for the government of Bahrain, which will be listed on the London Stock Exchange.

The Lovells team was led by Lovells' Global Head of Islamic Finance, Rahail Ali, who was assisted by of counsel Imran Mufti, senior associate, Daniel Rankin, associates Roger Fankhauser and Sema Kandemir and trainee solicitor Mark Brighouse.

Speaking today Rahail Ali, said:
"The sukuk market is very much in need of a sovereign sukuk issue such as this. The success of the sukuk will provide a boost for the stalled sukuk market."


The Lovells sukuk team has been at the forefront of cutting-edge developments in the sukuk arena, having previously advised on landmark sukuk including the first international musharaka, mudarabah, convertible and exchangeable sukuk offerings.
