The Association, has affiliates in the United States, Canada, Europe, African and the Caribbean and is committed to, among other things, promoting the science of jurisprudence and providing an environment for lawyers of African descent to excel in the legal profession and providing much needed legal services to the traditionally undeserved communities.

Earlier this week, a large contingency of NBA delegates co-hosted a legal conference with Middle East law firm Al Tamimi & Company. The seminar which took place at Jumeirah Emirates Towers formed part of the delegations annual international meeting, which this year was held in Egypt and Dubai.

The objective of the organisation's annual meetings is to allow the National Bar Association to enhance and project its mission as an organisation.

NBA President Rodney G. Moore stated:
"The fact that the Middle East remains a historically significant and economically important region is evident by the nearly 100 NBA members, including lawyers and judges, who are joining us on this important mission. We look forward to hearing from President Obama on issues of international significance and assisting the President by engaging in meaningful dialogue with the Middle East."

The seminar was attended by many of the UAE's local lawyers, legal counsel and government representatives as well as US Consulate to the UAE, Mr Paul Sutphin. Speakers, who included Al Tamimi & Company's founding partner Essam Al Tamimi, reviewed the judicial systems in both the UAE and the US, allowing delegates to gain insights and to glean differences and similarities between the two systems.

On the significance of the conference and the NBA visit, Al Tamimi said: "I really am delighted to have this group of esteemed lawyers, legal counsel and judges with us today. As someone who has worked in the area of law for most of my life I am always interested to hear different perspectives and updates on other systems and legal processes."
