In a context of environmental concern and energy depletion, Alfa induces more research to optimize its sites powering.
Standing at the forefront of innovation, Alfa is committed to implementing environmentally friendly solutions by resorting to solar and renewable energy to power its sites, especially in remote areas where main power supply is not available or reliable, namely in Hourata reserve where the preservation of the environment is the main concern.
The solar sites advantages are numerous. In addition to power saving by resorting to renewable energy, they are environmentally friendly and do not cause any noise, vibration nor CO2 gas emission which is the main element affecting the "global warming".
The solar system ensures a five-day power supply by means of batteries. In default of sunlight, the solar panels will continue to recharge the batteries, regardless of the worst weather conditions that Lebanon might experience during winter time. The system has been designed to operate during the rainiest and windiest days especially in December according to official statistics.
Samer Salameh, Chairman-CEO of Alfa, declared on this occasion:
"Until today Alfa has installed four other solar sites that are operational in Ainata (Yammouneh-Bekaa), Hnaider (Karha-North), Tilal (Tlail-North) and Kfartoun (Akroum-North). As a Corporate Citizen, we are aware of our environmental responsibility. We are constantly seeking to invest in technologies that boost the activity of our company while taking into consideration the conservation of nature."
It is worth noting that since February 1st, 2009, Alfa has been managed by Orascom Telecom, one of the largest and most diversified network operator in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia with a subscribers' base worldwide exceeding 80 million.
