Media from Kuwait and Egypt were present for the conference where Al Mershed explained the airline's choice of the destination, and the fact that the region's visitors can fly twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday.

Al Mershed, said:
"The launch of our non-stop service to the Marsa Alam, the gateway to the Red Sea resort of Port Ghalib, famed for its pristine beaches and coral reefs, means that we are presenting regional travellers with another exciting destination they can escape to for their summer holiday - or for a long weekend; to enjoy the natural beauty of the country as well as traditional Egyptian food and entertainment in this unspoilt region. Jazeera is the region's only low-fare airline offering a non-stop service to the resort, so we are excited to be welcoming the region's new and existing travellers this summer to experience Jazeera."

Marsa Alam airport is a ten minute drive from Port Ghalib, the five star Red Sea resort that welcomes visitors seeking sun, sea and sand. The resort provides visitors with an enormous range of activities based around the sea, from its new award winning marina; its five star international hotels, which boast world class food and a Six Senses Spa at the InterContinental The Palace Hotel, and for the more adventurous, the desert. It is known as one of the world's best kept secrets among the diving community and is famous for its coral reefs, dolphins and dugongs.

The launch of the new destination comes as part of Jazeera's recent network expansion, which has welcomed an additional five destinations this summer to some of the region's most desirable holiday spots including Iran's beautiful city of gardens, Shiraz; the ancient Syrian city of Aleppo; the picturesque Mediterranean resort of Larnaca in Cyprus and the historic Mediterranean hilltop resort of Antalya, Turkey.

Flights from Kuwait to Marsa Alam, or flights to any of the airline's 23 other destinations, can be booked online at jazeeraairways.com.
