DFF presents fashion medley as tradition African designs showcased with haute couture on 2nd day of Dubai Fashion Fiesta

Fashion Fiesta 2009 opened on a glamorous note as about 300 high profile guests gathered to check out this summer's latest collections from designers across the globe.
Noha Karam, the lead designer of Si Fashion Gallery, set the tone for the evening with a green and gold flowing gown. The designer chose to play with bright bold colors ranging from red, maroon, pink, purple and black. Sheer flowing fabric, double layered dresses high on understated sophistication hallmarked the collection.
Rohit Verma's limited haute couture collection was inspired by Bollywood. Lehengas and gowns with intricate embroidery and heavily studded with Swarovski crystals dominated the creation. The designer's Bollywood theme was highlighted by the presence of Indian actress Raima Sen who donned a blue coloured Rohit Verma creation.
Rabia Z collection fused together style and functionality to great perfection to showcase a ready to wear range for women who choose to wear the hijab and yet do not want to comprise on style.
The conservative line of Rabia Z gave way to bold and elegant body jumpsuits and gowns from Amber Feroz.
Shabana Asif opened her collection with a metallic grey, added a Grecian touch to her flowing gowns as a model strutted with a shimmering beige gown that was high on style and elegance.
Zahra Karmostaji, the designer whose green Jalabiya was worn by Paris Hilton on her visit to UAE showcased flowing Jalabiyas and haute-couture gowns in pink, green and purple. Sabrina Barnett's closing collection conveyed the theme of love and humanity. The designer described her collection as simple and wearable for women with strong personalities.
Najibah who represents modern British design in the Middle East, reigniting true feminism and making women feel alive in their rushed and hectic lives will be presenting her opening collection on the 2nd day of DFF.
The other designers of note participating today would be the much talented Mariam Heydari whose collections defy the rules of fashion for the distinguished woman, with each piece being one-of-a-kind and individualized, a work of art that provides long-lasting pleasure - a statement of individual style that can be worn with pride. Lida O' Reilly from Mauritius, who blends s different cultural influences to give her designs a metissé and versatile look.
Marco Marcu from Germany who deconstructs and reconstructs fabrics, using pearls, crystal, rhinestones and semi-precious materials will showcase the closing collection. The designer uses eye-catching handmade creations, rich in detail, to suit individual tastes with a one-of-a-kind design.
The other highlight of the event would be the participation of the Nigerian designers. The participation for the first time ever brings the African Fashion trends to the Middle East. Well known designer Zizi Cardow, celebrity endorsed brand OGODOR, Jazreel Designs and Modela Couture will also be participating in the event.
