Ahead of the 2009-2010 academic year starting in September, BUiD, the Middle East's first research-based, postgraduate university, has announced its scholarship opportunities, encouraging the region's professionals to build on their academic excellence.
88 of the 180 scholarship applicants for academic year 2008-2009 were awarded scholarships. 55% of these awardees were Emirati applicants, while 45 % were expatriates. For academic year 2009-2010, BUiD is encouraging talented individuals and future leaders to take part in further studies to build on their skills and expertise.
BUiD is one of the only Universities in the region to offer scholarships to almost half of its students, supporting a strong pool of talent found across the region.
Dr. Abdullah Alshamsi, Vice-Chancellor, The British University in Dubai, said:
"Our mission is to provide internationally-recognised research and academic development to the growing number of talented individuals based in the UAE."
"Our students have achieved strong academic results, and with their degrees, have applied their skills across a number of key industries in the UAE, building on our country's strength and providing leading companies with future leaders. We encourage and support talented and dedicated individuals through our extensive academic and scholarship offerings," added Alshamsi.
Leading companies have invested in BUiD's programmes by offering scholarships in key areas. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has offered full scholarships for students pursuing Professional Graduate Diplomas in Education, while organisations like Atkins, Emirates Foundation, and the Ministry of Presidential Affairs have all contributed to the development of students in areas that include Project Management Education, Finance and Banking, and Sustainable Design of the Built Environment.
BUiD and its partners offers scholarship across a range of disciplines, which include Education, Finance and Banking, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, IT Management, Project Management, Systems Engineering, and Sustainable Design of the Built Environment.
