The meeting focused on how the two organizations could cooperate in the development of professional training initiatives covering ICT and regulatory issues. The aim of these programs is to improve the skills of the Bahraini workforce and thereby reduce the knowledge gap that exists in these areas.

Commenting on the meeting TRA's General Director Mr. Alan Horne said:
"First of all I would like to compliment Tamkeen for their initiatives in funding the development of the professional training programs and helping to raise the standard of the Bahraini workforce. Bahrain is considered to be amongst the regional leaders in ICT and regulatory matters, however to maintain this position Bahrain must train and retain highly qualified people."

Mr. Horne went further to say: "There is clearly a skill gap at all levels in the ICT sector within Bahrain and the region. We will be working closely with Tamkeen to ensure this gap is reduced."

Tamkeen Chief Executive said:
"Tamkeen sees this opportunity to work with TRA as a means of boosting training and skills for Bahrainis in an industry that is a vital building block for the Kingdom's knowledge industry. Bahrain has already established a sound track-record in the telecoms and ICT industry. This coupled with strong growth in the telecoms sector and the ambitious plans of the government's e-governance strategy will lead to promising career opportunity for bright Bahrainis."

Tamkeen already has a rich suite of training programs in place for the ICT and IT sectors and an innovative support system for SMEs in this sector as well.
