1:1 computing has been proofed internationally as the most effective e-learning environment. Students are best able to practice and learn the collaborative working skills that are the hallmark of 21st century eLearning. To date, Intel had conducted several 1:1 e-learning pilots amongst several Egyptian schools; one of the most recent ones being 'Future Schools' and 'Omar Ibn Al Khattab School'.
This year, 1000 Intel-powered classmate PCs were donated to Egypt's Ministry of Education to be deployed around Egyptian schools. Intel believes that both the students and the teachers must gain the required skills for the 21st century. Through its renowned Intel Teach Program, Intel in Egypt alone has trained 200,000 teachers to effectively integrate technology and project- based learning into their classrooms. In November 2008, Intel launched another education initiative in Egypt - skoool.com.eg, its online teaching program, which has brought over half a million page views to its portal so far. Skoool.com.eg is a learning and teaching technology that brings Egyptian students and teachers advanced multimedia resources for mathematics and science. The resources offered by Intel are easily re-configurable and re-usable in multiple geographies on different platforms and devices. Over 250 multi-media resources in mathematics and science are available in a range of languages and based on the expertise of top teachers in their fields.
The Intel-powered classmate PC is a small, mobile learning assistant developed specifically for young students (K-6). The child- friendly, rugged and affordable learning device aims at creating a suitable internet connected, learning environment for students as well as for active day- to- day use by children. This dedicated 1:1 learning environment includes a devoted laptop for each student and teacher to help in acquiring the skills and knowledge needed in the 21st century.
