Abu Dhabi Department of Transport hosts The 13th Air Transport Research Society World Conference

DoT is bringing this international event to Abu Dhabi to support and promote the continued growth and success of the aviation and tourism sectors, and to further enhance the Emirate's reputation as a global industry hub and centre for innovation and excellence.

The event is being held in association with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), Abu Dhabi Airport Company (ADAC) and Etihad Airways.

Almost 350 participants from across the globe will be attending this Air Transport Research Society World Conference, including world-leading sector researchers, academics, industry leaders, government representatives, scientists and students.

Participants will exchange the latest data and insights into air transport, with a view to enhancing the research capacity for multinational and multi-disciplinary teams, and addressing the most pressing issues being faced by the industry today. A total of 150 original research papers will be presented, including five from UAE delegates.

His Excellency Mohamed Hareb Al Yousef, Executive Director - Aviation Sector, Department of Transport, said: "Abu Dhabi is delighted to host this prestigious global event, as it provides us with an invaluable opportunity to engage with participants and highlight our commitment to our emerging aviation and tourism sectors.

In addition, $10bn is being invested in hotels and tourism facilities over the next ten years, with ADTA providing the framework for sustainable growth and future success."

ATRS conferences provide a unique forum for open discussion and vigorous debate which stimulates thinking and contributes to continuous improvement in the aviation community. The findings also help policymakers around the world to make informed decisions on all matters relating to aviation.

ATRS interacts with various international and national institutions which deal with policy and infrastructure issues concerning international aviation including: the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Civil Aviation Organization, the World Trade Organization, the European Commission, and the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council.

The Society is headquartered at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Vancouver, BC, Canada. Its network of researchers, economists, consultants and professionals sitting as committee representatives is expanding around the globe.
