- PRESS RELEASE
Royal Jordanian Board of Directors approved in its meeting held Saturday June 27, 2009, the resignation of the president/CEO Engineer Samer Majali starting August 1, upon his request.
Lozi said that Majali enabled the airline to hold an eminent position in the air transport industry despite the challenges and difficult times that the industry has gone through in the past few years.
Lozi said that the board of directors and all staff members appreciate Majali's loyalty and devotion to Jordan and Royal Jordanian, in addition to his belief in developing the airline and boosting its position.
He said that Samer Majali contributed in the past years to implement His Majesty King Abdullah II vision to place Jordan as the gateway to the Middle East by modernizing the company's fleet, broadening its route network through its membership in the oneworld airline alliance as the first regional airline to be invited to join a global alliance, in addition to being the first national flag carrier to be privatized successfully.
Majali joined Royal Jordanian in 1979, holding a B.Sc. Degree in Aeronautical Engineering and Design. He then obtained an M.Sc. Degree in Air Transport Management from the United Kingdom. He worked in several departments in the airline, such as Flight Operations, Planning, Information Technology, Passenger and In-flight Services and others, till he was appointed as President/CEO of RJ in 2001.
