"Apart from the benefits that the traditional GDS platform offers, Travelport has a plethora of innovative solutions that can help travel agencies significantly streamline their operations. This showcase was a great opportunity to get even closer to our agency customers and ensure that they have the tools they need to run successful businesses,"said Rabih Saab, Vice-President of Travelport GDS.
Led by members of both the local Travelport¬-Lebanon and regional Travelport team, five workshop sessions were conducted each day to highlight the salient features of key products currently being rolled out across the region, including Journey Reporter, a real-time passenger tracking solution; e-Tracker, a web-based e-ticket tracking tool, and Fee Manager, a flexible revenue management product.
The newly-structured Travelport GDS also leveraged the event to give an overview of its latest hotel and car offering, including its agreement with Pegasus, the preferred hotel commission service for travel agents, which offers Travelport users a reduced price on its commission processing services and the opportunity to more easily reconcile hotel bookings and collect hotel commissions.
The Marriott international team in Lebanon was also present during the hotel workshop to deliver a presentation on several new initiatives available for travel agents through the hotel, including its 'Look No Further' best rate and double commission guarantee, as well as its 'Global Hotel Excellence' training program.
Looking ahead, agents were then given a special preview of Travelport's future product strategy, with a sneak peek of the upcoming Travelport Universal Desktop (TUD), a new generation platform set to reinvent the GDS, and a demonstration of e-Pricing, the industry leading shopping solution for air fares.
"Our focus is to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty by offering enhanced services as well as new and innovative technology. We look forward to delivering the very best to our customers in Lebanon, and will continue to provide them with products that will drive their future success," said Najwa Tarabah, operational head of Travelport-Lebanon.
Throughout the summer, Travelport will be holding dedicated workshops across the Middle East to educate the travel trade on its latest range of products and services, and will be working closely with Galileo-connected agents to help them leverage the full functionality of the GDS.
