The conference will be held on the sidelines of OITE's TransOman - transport, shipping and logistics expo scheduled from 13th to 15th October this year at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

The two-day conference will focus on the country's investment opportunities comprising the land transport, ports, maritime and civil aviation and will gather local, regional and international transport, shipping and logistics practitioners to discuss and address the industry's pressing issues.

It will provide industry players with a unique platform to explore various opportunities, exchange best practices and learn a wealth of knowledge from major transport and logistics experts.

The conference, which will include power-packed presentations from inspiring speakers, will also explore indispensable strategies and advice to help individuals and organisations prosper in times of economic uncertainty. Innovation will be the main highlight of the two-day conference.

Sherwin Sevillena, Manager-Conferences at OITE said:
"This is the first conference on Transport, Shipping and Industry in Oman. Industry players are looking forward to this opportunity to network and build relationships among industry practitioners both in the region and across the world."

OITE, the event organiser, is also making great efforts to make the conference and expo a valuable event for all involved. Recently, an Advisory Committee of leading transportation professionals was set-up with the intention of bringing some of the industry's most pressing issues to the heart of the conference.

Committee members included Warith Al-Kharousi, Logistics Manager of Petroleum Development Oman, Rajiv K. Bhatia, General Manager of the Middle East Shipping and Transportation Company, Annica Sigevall, Head of Corporate Commercial at the Port of Sohar, Kamil Tahir Gani, Operations Manager of Sun Logistics International, Wasam Moosa Al Najjar, Senior Commercial Officer of the Oman Shipping Company SAOC.

The Advisory Committee also included representatives from Oman Air Cargo and DHL Global Forwarding.

The committee is set up to make the conference best work as an instrument of change, aiming to help Oman become the Middle East's major transport, shipping and logistics hub and a world-class centre of investment.

The advisory committee recently identified areas of concerns as to how the upcoming conference can be beneficial to everyone concerned. Topics at the TransOman conference are all tailored to achieve the goal of bringing about the necessary changes required to drive Oman's transport, shipping and logistics sectors forward.

Further advisory meetings will take place in the run-up to the conference which Warith Al-Kharousi, Logistics Manager of Petroleum Development Oman has kindly agreed to chair.

Sadiq Ahmed Khan, Director—Sales and Marketing Director of OITE further said "For the first time, OITE organises the TransOman Expo & Conference at the most appropriate time when the Sultanate of Oman is experiencing remarkable development in the transport sector which includes sea, air and land.

This event is expected to bring in key industry players in the region. The conference which will be held alongside the expo makes the TransOman event a very significant event that the transport, shipping and logistics sectors should not miss".

The Transportation Innovation and Challenges Conference will be open to all leading senior executives and high ranking officials from Concerned Government Agencies and Authorities, Embassies and Consulates, Ports and Airports Authorities, Industrial Free Zones, Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Industry Associations and Business Councils, Shippers (Manufacturers and Retailers), 3PLs and 4PLs, Carriers (Road, Sea and Air), IT Solution Providers, Banks and Financial Institutions, Investors and Investment Companies, Consultants and Media.
