Masrawy.com achieved significant growth year on year

Masrawy.com, Egypt's Arabic news, media and entertainment portal, announced strong year-on-year (Y-o-Y) growth for the period May 2009 compared to May 2008.

The portal, which offers a diversified content of news, value added services, interactive features, connectivity solutions, online competitions, web-based SMS composer, an online video library, POP email client, online classifieds, and online travel reservation facilitator, enjoyed a 50% Y-o-Y increase in page views for the period, reaching almost 60 million views.

At the same time, its Mobile page views witnessed a massive 250% Y-o-Y increase to reach over 2% of these page views during the same period.

Masrawy.com also enjoyed a substantial increase in unique visitors over the period, growing 41% to almost 2.5 million unique visitor a month, with website visits increasing 82% Y-o-Y to nearly 12 million a month. News and videos page views saw a 57% and 27% Y-o-Y growth, respectively.

Masrawy.com's biggest success story for the year was the exponential growth in the use of the website's SMS service, which saw a 577% Y-o-Y increase in the number of SMS's sent during the period.

Masrawy.com presented several new competitions and services during the period, including a revamp of the popular News channel, as well as the TV guide Service launched in Q3 2008, the launch of a channel dedicated to women in Q3 2008, also there were another revamp of the SMS service launched in Q4 2008, several new competitions in 2009, and a new SMS news feed service launched in Saudi Arabia in Q2 2009.
