Rania Al Mughraby, Director of Events Strategy at DSF Office said:
"Seventeen designers showcased around 260 designs during this year's Sheila and Abaya Fashion and the response has been overwhelming. From a platform for emerging designers, this event attracts the best in the industry today and the participating designers are testimony to the success we have witnessed this edition."
"The Shayla and Abaya show is all about style and substance and is a wonderful platform for presenting the latest trends each year. BurJuman is proud to support this fabulous DSS initiative that brings together the region's most sought-after Shayla and Abaya designers," said Sabina Khandwani, Head of PR and Marketing, BurJuman. "The positive feedback we have received is a validation of the event's prominence and importance on the fashion calendar and we are confident that it will keep growing in the years to come."
The Sheila and Abaya Fashion indeed moved it to a fashion-forward statement, giving the custom wardrobes touches of modern style. The past three nights of fashion shows proved that fact, and the last night was not the least among them. The final set of designers included DAS Collections (Reem and Hind Ali Beljafla), Velvet Abaya (Kuwait), Scarf (Mariam Murthada Wadiey), and Smooth Lady (Mona Khanbouli).
DAS Collections reflected classical touch with modern twists on the wondrous pieces of sheilas and abayas. Velvet Abaya, on the other hand, produced a collection that showed unique colours and cuts that were hugely appreciated by the audience.
Scarf, the fashion label from Bahrain, transformed the traditional clothing into fashionable wear by adding new elements, intricate embroidery, accessories and decorative jewellery. While, the UAE-local Smooth Lady presented artful show of mastered and tailored sheilas and abayas.
