The Jordanian Minister of Information and Communications Technology, Eng. Basem Rousan, and the Korean ambassador to Jordan, Mr. Pong Kil Chin attended the celebration as guests of honor. The event also saw the participation of local and international media and press.
Samsung's new regional offices were created for the purpose of bolstering Samsung's brand value and overall customer satisfaction in the Jordanian, Syrian, Lebanese, Iraqi and Palestinian markets. The offices will oversee the company's activities in each of those countries, a responsibility previously shouldered by Samsung Gulf in Dubai.
Commenting on the celebration, Eng Basem Rousan, reaffirmed the Kingdom's commitment to enabling the investment and regulatory environment that encouraged Samsun to choose Jordan as the base for its Levant operations.
Rousan also eluded to the Government's efforts to create special economic zones aimed at providing competitive and business-friendly climate as well as focus on developing centers of expertise and leveraging the 'clustering effect' for targeted industries such as the Offshore Contact Centre Industry and IT-enabled BPO.
The Minister referred to the Internship Programme for Fresh ICT Graduates which is intended to bridge the gap between graduates and the requirements of the job market and emphasized that the Ministry will always support the development and growth of the ICT sector.
Mr. Sunny Hwang, President of Samsung Electronics Levant, said:
"I am thrilled to announce the official launch of our regional offices in the Levant, as we are now able to further expand our network of clients by providing customers in the region with a constantly-updated lineup of electronics and digital solutions. We seek to penetrate the Levant market under an entirely new methodology, and to transform the reality of electronics and digital technology in the region."
Hwang added that Samsung had previously relied on its clients to deliver its services as well as brand and product marketing to the Levant, but has recently found it prudent to renew its commitment to its regional customers by launching the new offices to offer them more direct and well-rounded customer services and marketing. The company chose Jordan as a base for its new offices due to the country's political stability and attractive investment policies, which makes it an ideal base for future growth.
Samsung has garnered a reputation for creating a broad and varied range of high quality and competitively priced electronics and digital solutions. Their products are raved about for having sleek designs, all the while retaining unmatched intuitiveness and usability. The company has succeeded in setting new standards for consumer electronics and digital technologies in the region by consistently providing customers with superiorly innovative products.
Currently, Samsung ranks number on globally in terms of television set sales and number two in mobile phone sales. One of the missions set for the new regional office is to elevate the company's position in the Levant to its current global position.
