This reception will take place within the framework of the upcoming Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank and IMF on 6 - 7 October 2009.

The Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation to the IMF/World Bank meetings in Istanbul this year will be led by H.E. the Minister of Finance and H.E. the Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain.

Mr. Mayank Malik, Chairman of BAB, said,

"The event aims to showcase Bahrain to the international audience that will be attending the IMF meetings. It is one of the premier events in the world financial calendar, and the EDB and BAB have been holding a reception for the past several years in Washington, D.C. and other international locations where the meetings are held. We look forward to greeting our banking colleagues and guests there in October."

The event is being organised and run by VIP Tourism. Their CEO, Ceylan Pirinccioglu stated, 'We are delighted to undertake BAB's reception which will be a focal point for Bahrain's representation at this important global event."

Istanbul with its amazing culture and history is a gateway between East and West. The city has hosted many important international fairs and conferences in recent years due to its specific location as a central spot both geographically and also culturally, functioning as a bridge between Europe and Asia.

Mr. Robert Ainey, CEO of BAB, commented, "Just as Istanbul is a gateway between two continents, the Kingdom of Bahrain strives to be a gateway to the Gulf countries of the Middle East. We look forward to welcoming Bahrain's bankers at the reception so that they can network with their international partners and establish new business relationships."
