"Following the great success that Samsung witnessed while launching its range of notebooks in the UAE and KSA, our next step was to reach out to Kuwait, one of our most important markets in the GCC. In spite of Samsung's fresh start in the Saudi and Emarati notebook market, our line-up gained the trust and admiration of consumers. Gartner has reported that in EMEA, Samsung notebooks have had a 140% growth in Q1 2009 compared to Q1 2008. That's phenomenal growth spearheaded by our launch in the region."
said Madhav Narayan, General Manager, IT Division, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
Samsung is a world leader in the manufacture of TFT-LCDs and semiconductors and has a plethora of OEM arrangements worldwide. The launch of notebooks complements Samsung Electronics diverse and comprehensive portfolio of products, thereby enhancing the company's offering to consumers in the region.
"We are very confident that our entry into the Kuwaiti market will be met with positive consumer feedback and demand. Samsung Electronics is a committed investor in R&D, which enables us to offer notebooks that fuse extensive functionality and performance with world class design that meet consumer needs and requirements. Moreover, when you look at the Samsung notebook range, you will find that 60 percent of the components are manufactured by the company itself. This means that Samsung notebooks have one of the best reliability records in the industry thus lowering the total cost of ownership," said Narayan.
Starting the range is the X460, a notebook designed to meet the demanding 'anytime, anywhere' performance and connectivity requirements of today's new generation of agile users. The X460 sets a completely new standard in mobile computing - offering a comprehensive set of features in a slim, lightweight package superior to anything else on the market.
Incorporating the all new Intel Centrino 2 processor technology, the X460 delivers revolutionary mobile performance, extended wireless mobility for immersed connectivity and enhanced power-saving features that improve battery life to keep you working longer.
Add to this a high performance NVIDIA GeForce Go 9200M GS graphics card and an integrated optical disk drive, and the X460 continues Samsungs emergence as a leading producer of feature packed ultra mobile notebooks. Despite being one of the lightest notebook in its 14.1" class, weighing a mere 1.9 kg, the Samsung X460 still manages to fuse extensive functionality and performance with class leading design. The X460's power consumption is optimised even further through the use of an innovative 14.1" Flat-LED WXGA (1280 x 800) Gloss screen, which consumes significantly less energy. Being thinner and generating around 33% more brightness than traditional LCD screens the X460 makes it easier to work outdoors.
Completing Samsung's line-up in the mini notebook market are the Samsung N120 and N310. Although slim at just 10.1", the N120 is designed for optimum usability and performance, with its full-size 12" notebook style keyboard, larger touchpad and an ultra-lightweight and robust slimline casing. What's more, its enhanced sound system means you can experience a rich multimedia experience when you are on the go.
The Samsung N310 represents that ultimate union of class-leading design and performance. Designed by Naoto Fukasawa, a leading international designer whose works have won more than 50 design awards in Europe, America and Asia, Samsung N310 is incorporated with cutting-edge technology and stand-alone design. It enables optimum mobility with long-lasting battery powered performance of up to 5 hours, independent of any power supply.
