HACCP certification for Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel

Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel has demonstrated its commitment to food safety yet again.

The hotel has been awarded the HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification from the TUV NORD CERT ME for excellence in food safety, a certification recognized by TUV Germany (Germany's national standards and accreditation body).

"HACCP is a systematic preventive approach to food safety. The process encompasses physical, chemical, and biological hazards identification and rectification as a means of prevention, from receiving, storing to preparation and serving food. The HACCP initiative was undertaken to assure guests that the highest standard of food hygiene is adopted in the hotel,"
explained Chef Josef Gschwandtner, Executive Chef of the hotel.

The entire certification process took over for one whole year and the certification audit was successfully performed on 15th June 2009.

"We are very aware of growing areas of global concern in the food and healthy lifestyle. We have worked hard to achieve this accreditation which required commitment from every employee from the General Manager to all associates. Attaining HACCP Certification demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing our valued guests with the safety, control and management of healthy and quality food in accordance with hotel industry expectations worldwide," Mr. Jeevenand Raju, the hotel's Hygiene Inspector said.

"We are proud to be awarded the HACCP certification. This certification reinforces our commitment to food hygiene and maintaining the highest possible food handling standards in our restaurants and kitchens. Mr. Foltin personally thanked Chef Josef Gschwandtner, the Executive Chef and his team for all their efforts they have exerted in achieving this important and valuable award.

Completion and implementation of the HACCP program demonstrate Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel's intention to remain as one of the best quality-certified hotels in the city.
