Gulf Bank celebrates International Anti-Drug Day

Under the patronage of H.E the Minister of Interior and the Head of the National Anti-Drug Committee, Lieutenant General Sheikh Jaber Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, Gulf Bank concluded its diamond sponsorship of the World Anti-Drug Day, held at the JW Marriot Hotel on June 30th 2009.

The sponsorship stems from Gulf Bank's philanthropic philosophy to assist in and contribute towards fighting drug abuse; helping to promote a drug free Kuwait and warn of the dangers of drug use.

The event was organized by the National Anti-Drug Committee and Ghiras TV Channel, and featured keynote speakers who discussed the dangers of drug use amongst the youth and the society.

The ceremony was officially inaugurated by H.E the Minister of Interior, who gave a speech at the occasion. This was followed by speeches from the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the Middle East & South Africa, Ambassador Mohammad Abdulaziz and Dr. Ahmad Al Samdan, the General Secretary of the National Anti-Drug Committee.

During the celebration of the International Anti-Drug Day, the Kuwait Art Association organized an art display at Marina Mall for children to raise more awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

The event also included a short video clip on the achievements of the committee and highlighted Dr. Ahmad Al Samdan's participation on Marina FM's Diwaniya show, where he lauded the benefits of World Anti-Drug Day, as well as thanking the participating sponsoring companies.

Gulf Bank continues to show its commitment towards all sectors of the Kuwaiti society, reaffirming its position as a leading Kuwaiti financial institution that is socially dedicated.
