Students in Lebanon now have an extra 4 weeks to submit their applications.

The grants are part of the Tomooh education program, launched by PepsiCo International in cooperation with Ajialouna in Lebanon in 2006 in an effort to enable talented and economically challenged youth to start or continue their educational pursuits by providing them with the necessary financial backing needed.

"PepsiCo's Tomooh scholarships have benefited over 500 students in Lebanon over the past four years, to help them realize their educational goals. We've decided to extend the deadline for application submission till July 31st in order to ensure that we reach students in remote areas in Lebanon and allow more students to apply for the scholarships."

said Talal El Khalil, Vice President and General Manager for PepsiCo. International, Levant Market Unit.

"By extending the application deadline to July 31 we are ensuring that all students who wish to submit their applications but may previously have been unable to can do so now," said Ajialouna President, Dr. Lina Dada. "We believe in providing the largest possible number of students with the opportunity to apply and win one of the scholarships."

PepsiCo's Tomooh scholarships are open to all Lebanese students aged 15-22. Students may apply through Ajialouna's offices located in Tallet El Khayat or through a network of charity organizations. Application forms are additionally available through 57 Libanpost offices located throughout Lebanon, and can be downloaded from the official Tomooh website.

PepsiCo's Tomooh scholarship program was launched for the fourth consecutive year in Lebanon on April 1st, with this year being particularly special for Tomooh as previous Tomooh scholarship recipients will have the chance to re-apply for the scholarship if they managed to maintain high academic standing and are still in need of financial assistance in order to continue their education.

The Tomooh Education Project, launched by PepsiCo International, is a scholarship program in the Middle East dedicated to underprivileged students looking to further their education. The program comes from PepsiCo International's 1m dollar commitment to the Arab world which has been set aside in order to aid disadvantaged communities, based on individual needs. Introduced in Lebanon in 2006 as an annual scholarship program, Tomooh was then rolled out to Jordan and Egypt, with the program now in its 4th year in Lebanon, and 3rd year in both Jordan and Egypt.
