Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry launches "Kaif Nabdaa" annual summer training program for students

This initiative forms part of Chamber efforts to provide training opportunities that can enhance the capabilities of national students enrolled in various disciplines as well as familiarise the youth about the nature and requirements of government work.

The annual program is expected to help in providing the labour market with qualified staff and employees possessing a significant understanding of the mechanisms and procedures adopted by many government departments and institutions.

Present during the ceremonies held in the SCCI's headquarters were SCCI Director General Hussein Mohammed Al Mahmoudi; Khalid Bin Butti, Assistant Director General for Membership and Attestation Affairs; Mohammad Ahmed Amin, Assistant Director General of Economic and International Affairs; Mariam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director General of Human Resources, Finance and Information; and various heads of SCCI departments.

On the occasion, Hussein Al Mahmoudi spoke on the importance of practical training in refining the skills of students and helping them acquire actual experience that familiarises them with the real work environment. These skills, he explained, direct students towards fields suitable for them in their higher education or their future work domain.

Al Mahmoudi also emphasized the Chamber's aim of harnessing all its potential and capabilities to support student training programs as well as recruit outstanding students and prepare them for integration into the labour market.

The current edition of "Kaif Nabdaa" includes 30 trainees from universities, technical colleges and public secondary schools. They will join programs held in the SCCI headquarters and other branches scattered across the cities of Sharjah, in coordination with private organisations and companies.

The trainees will be treated as employees in terms of commitment, duties, responsibility in carrying out tasks entrusted to them, and using their abilities and skills to perform their assigned work. Successful trainees will receive appreciation certificates and financial rewards after completing the program.

The training initiative complements Chamber activities related to summer training. Since its establishment, SCCI has been involving students in training programs in accordance with the highest international standards. Through the summer program, the Chamber seeks to strengthen its social role in the emirate, support emiratisation, and raise participants' awareness on opportunities available in the private sector while acquainting them with business requirements and the work environment.

Mariam Al Shamsi said:

"We will continue our efforts to develop national human resources and allow male and female citizens to carry out their duties and responsibilities effectively, in line with endeavours aimed at balancing the labour market between citizens and residents. In this sense, we continue to cooperate and coordinate with private organisations and departments concerned with development issues and the recruitment of UAE nationals in order to achieve our common goals."

Al Shamsi further explained that the SCCI Board of Directors chaired by Ahmed Mohammed Al Midfa had a major impact on the success of these programs through its support, guidance, and financial and technical assistance. She also pointed out that the Chamber's annual action plan focuses on the continuous implementation of practical training programs for university students within the Chamber's various departments and sections according to their scientific disciplines.

SCCI had earlier organised a meeting with students and trainees in the presence of Mariam Al Shamsi and officials from the Chamber's human resource management department. During the session, attendees were given an overview of the Chamber's work, its services, and the summer training program. Moreover, Al Shamsi invited private organisations to provide more opportunities for male and female students from various domains who possess skills compatible with the nature of their work, in line with the concept of mutual partnership.
