The Khalifa Fund supports the SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) sector and is committed to driving the adoption of an entrepreneurial culture among Emirati youth.

The Fund's annual exhibition highlights successful businesses founded and nurtured by UAE nationals, thanks to the financial support and backing extended to these entrepreneurs by the Fund.

UNB's sponsorship of the Khalifa Fund's annual exhibition reiterates the bank's commitment to the SME sector in the UAE. The exhibition takes place at Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre on 8th July 2009, and is focused on showcasing both initiatives of UAE national entrepreneurs, as well as highlighting business opportunities in the SME sector.

Mohammed Nasr Abdeen, CEO of UNB, said:
"We recognize that the SME sector constitutes one of the dynamic sectors in the UAE economy. UNB has always believed in the potential of young UAE nationals and we are proud to sponsor this event that brings together innovative UAE entrepreneurs and business leaders who can serve as sources of ideas and practical business advice. Through our sponsorship of this event, UNB would like to reiterate our commitment to strengthening this sector in line with the UAE government's vision."

UNB is optimistic on the business potential from the SME sector and has introduced a number of innovative products and services aimed at enabling the growth of this sector.

UNB offers Commercial loans to SMEs to rent commercial properties including office premises, shops, warehouses and factories. Business owners who avail of the loan can choose convenient monthly repayments over a three, six or 12-month term while UNB will make the one-time rental payment to landlords as per the terms in the tenancy contract.

UNB has also funded various projects in the SME sector based on the feasibility and the benefit to the economic development of the UAE.
