Addressing the assembled airport and civil aviation officials, Iranian and Kuwaiti media and key travel agencies, Al Mershed explained that Jazeera is the first low-fare airline in the region to offer non-stop flights to the ancient city of arts and culture; and that the airline will be operating flights every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, with one way fares.
Al Mershed commented; "We are very proud to be increasing the number of routes we now fly to in the country, with the addition of Isfahan - one of the most remarkable cities in the East. The launch of our non-stop service to this interesting city, along with our well-planned flight times, means that visitors from the Gulf can enjoy a weekend - or longer holiday - to experience the best in hospitality, history, cuisine and culture that Iran has to offer, this summer."
With history spreading as far back as the Palaeolithic era and the flux of different Empires and dynasties leaving their mark on the city throughout the ages - modern Isfahan, known as 'half of the world', is a living relic of Persia's glorious history. Famed for its stunning Islamic and Persian architecture, Isfahan served as the capital of Persia during the Safavid dynasty and was once one of the biggest cities in the world. Aside from stunning mosques and minarets, the city boasts a number of magnificent bridges which cross the Zayandeh River and lead to numerous historic and natural beauty spots that make up the vast city.
Jazeera Airways CEO, Stefan Pichler' commented;
"Iran has proven to be a very important market for us, and we have witnessed significant uptake and continually increasing passenger numbers to all of our Iran destinations - including the country's capital, Tehran; Shiraz, the city of gardens; and the holy city of Mashhad. We are expecting Isfahan to be a hugely popular destination, as we continue to give the region's passengers even more freedom to fly - to some of the most exciting destinations in and around the Middle East."
The launch of the new Isfahan destination comes as part of Jazeera's recent network expansion and forms a major step along Jazeera' growth plan, to fly to all major cities across the region. The airline has welcomed an additional five destinations this summer to a number of desirable holiday spots including the ancient Syrian city of Aleppo; the picturesque Mediterranean resort of Larnaca in Cyprus; the historic Mediterranean hilltop resort of Antalya, Turkey; and the Red Sea Riviera resort of Marsa Alam.
Jazeera Airways currently operates a fleet of ten new Airbus A320s. Each aircraft is fitted with the airline's signature leather seating, while the Jazeera Plus (J+) cabin offers business travellers the highest standards of comfort, relaxation and a range of in-flight amenities. The airline flies to destinations in the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, Iran, and the Indian subcontinent.
