Grown ups won't feel left out either, thanks to shopping promotions, a grand raffle draw worth over half a million riyals and even a troupe of Amazing Oriental Acrobats will perform gravity-defying acts that have to be seen to be believed.
Mr. Feroz Moideen, General Manager, Hyatt Plaza, points out:
"This summer, more people are opting to stay in Qatar rather than travel overseas because of the economic crisis as well as global health fears."
"And coincidentally, this year's much awaited summer activities in Doha's malls were called off," he adds. "Residents of Qatar are very much on the lookout for things to do this summer and so we decided to give our audience exactly what they wanted - a great family experience in the comfort and relaxing environment of Hyatt Plaza."
As such, Hyatt Plaza management, who regard themselves as market leaders in setting trends decided to take a bold step in creating a summer festival for the people of Qatar under the name "Hyatt Plaza Summer Chillout".
Mr. Moideen said, "It is only right that mall operators like us fulfill our corporate and social responsibility to the people of Qatar by giving them a place where they can gather with their families & have fun, something very much needed in Qatar."
From July 9th to August 15th, Hyatt Plaza is going to be a fantasy-land of sorts where kids will get a chance to interact with over 20 of their favorite Space Toon characters including Fulla, the Ninja Turtles, Detective Conan, Strawberry Shortcake, Lulu and Katie among others. The Space Toon characters will also conduct themed stage shows and interactive games for children with many prizes to be won. Even the mall's ever popular Jungle Zone are open for children to enjoy the "pay less and play more" special offer, with a variety of prizes and surprises to be won.
Adults as well as children will be left awestruck by spectacular indoor performances by the Amazing Oriental Acrobats - a professional troupe of gymnasts and performers who dazzle with more than 20 different acrobatic acts throughout the festival period, as well as interacting with children and handing out gifts.
Those who are looking to shop won't be disappointed either. Most of the stores are set to offer promotional prices throughout the Summer Festival, and all purchases of over QR100 are eligible for a raffle draw entry. There are over 155 raffle prizes to be won every week including cash prizes, shopping vouchers and high end Nokia mobile phones. The highlight of the raffle is five Grand Prizes in cash, to be won on the last raffle draw (Sunday 16 August).
The Summer Festival is an independent initiative by Hyatt Plaza to give Doha residents something to do over the summer.
"Through the Summer Festival, we're catering to our audiences as well as to our tenants," says Mr. Moideen. "It's a win-win situation for the visitors, the tenants and for Hyatt Plaza, but most importantly it's our chance to serve the community in which we operate."
