This step aims to encourage Iraqi citizens to register their mobile phone lines in accordance with the law and to support the Government's objectives in ensuring that mobile lines do no become a source of disturbance or trouble to Iraqi citizens, as well as to prevent mobile phones from being used for inhumane or terrorist purposes.

The disconnection will result in the registration of all the company's phone lines, which will help the authorities gain access to any individual who causes political or social problems, and serves to ensure the comfort of Asiacell's registered subscribers.

Positive results began to manifest right after this step was taken, as 400,000 Iraqi citizens came forth to legally register their lines which Asiacell promptly reactivated for them using a cutting-edge mechanism, which reflects the company's commitment to serving the Iraqi people and its dedication to winning their trust.

Commenting on this development, Dr. Diar Ahmed, CEO of Asiacell, said:
"As a nationalistic Iraqi company, we fully realize the importance of basing our operations on regulated and legal policies that correspond with governmental directions in Iraq while simultaneously ensuring the comfort and satisfaction of our customers, which is how all successful and large companies across the world operate."

"This is the most opportune time to take this step, and a new campaign to disconnect an additional 500,000 unregistered mobile phone lines began on the 1st of July 2009. We thank all the citizens who have supported us in this mission, and we look forward to maintaining our positive impact through our operations and efforts on the development of the Iraqi telecom sector in particular and the growth of the economy in general to help build a new Iraq," he added.
