'Following recent events, we have received requests from exhibitors to re-schedule the exhibition,' explained Mohammed Falaknaz, Vice President, IEC.

'We have sampled exhibitors feelings and they are committed to the show. The exhibition will now take place from 6 - 8 May at DIEC.'

IEC says though the show could still produce a fairly healthy event of over 2,000 square metres, regional industry buyers had voiced concern that they would be unable to attend due to the present situation in the region.

'We became concerned about the visitor quality, which has been a hall mark of the show for the past seven years. We have not taken this decision lightly but wish to deliver the very best value to exhibitor and visitor alike,' said Falaknaz.

AAME is an annual international trade show for automobile parts, accessories, tyres, batteries and garage equipment.

The show had been scheduled to feature more than 200 companies from more than 30 countries across North and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Far East and Australasia. The exhibition still remains 75% bigger than 2002.

'The show would have been twice the size of last year's event but we are confident that once normalcy returns to the region, the international industry will respond positively,' said Falaknaz.
