Crew of E-Marine Cable Ship return to UAE

The 89 crew of the Cable Ship Niwa have returned safely to the UAE after a three-month mission laying a cable in East Africa.

Over the course of their voyage, across the East Coast of Africa, the crew installed over 5,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable at depths of up to 5400 meters.

"Our project team, captain and crew of the Cable Ship Niwa have accomplished a major task with the utmost efficiency and professionalism," said Omar Jassim Bin Kalban, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of E-Marine PJSC.

"This was a unique mission, which meant that our crew had to endure the tension of operating in a war zone in extremely rough weather conditions. We express our thanks to each and every one of them and commend their bravery, commitment and professionalism in what is a critically important project."

Captain Adil Salmanov, Project Manager and Head of Mission for the installation works said:
"This mission was carried out in the most stressful conditions. Not only were weather and sailing conditions difficult, but all personal had to work under great pressure, there was never a moment to relax."
