Al Madina A'Zarqa welcomed the Chairman of Anantara Hotel, Resorts and Spas to the project site

Blue City Company 1 (BCC1), the company in charge of the delivery of Phase 1 of Al Madina A'Zarqa welcomed Bill Heinecke, Chairman, Minor Group and Michel Van der Hoeven, Senior Vice President-Development, Minor Group to the project site recently.

The Anantara team visited the construction of Anantara Al Madina A'Zarqa Resorts and Spas.

"We are amazed at how fast the construction of the hotel is going. This is an incredible project and worth every minute of the visit. Our decision to open Anantara Hotel with Al Madina A'Zarqa and in Oman has to do with the country, hospitality and the incredible opportunities that the new development has to offer,"
said Bill Heinecke, Chairman, Minor Group.

Mr. Heinecke and Mr. Van der Hoeven were in Muscat to visit the project site and to get a first hand look at the progress of construction. The design and updates on construction were explained by representatives of AECO and Blue City Company 1.

"We are proud that we are progressing very well with construction and that Anantara will be the first out of the 20 hotels to be constructed in Al Madina A'Zarqa. We are on schedule and the target completion date by October 2010 will signify the opening of our city to tourism," Roger Kacou, Vice President - Hotel and Leisure, Blue City 1. "We strongly believe that Anantara will contribute in positioning the new city as an international destination."

Anantara, Al Madina A'Zarqa Resorts & Spas is the first of the three hotels in Phase 1. Consisting of 122 keys, the resort will aim to bring the influences of Omani culture and heritage into a stunning new setting.

The 5-star Anantara Spa will be in operation with a fusion of locally inspired and Asian influenced services and treatments. Supported by world-class dining options, the beach-front resort will provide a unique blend of ambiance and exclusivity.

Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas is a collection of five-star luxury and boutique resorts and spas, providing an immersion into the culture, history and unique natural settings of its locations. Anantara has received many accolades for its growing portfolio of luxury resorts, stretching from Thailand, to Bali, the Maldives and the UAE, including two new resorts named in both the Condé Nast UK and US 'Hot Lists' for 2009.

Tagged as the New City of Oman, Al Madina A'Zarqa is a 32 km2 development in Sawadi, a 60-minute drive from Muscat. It runs along 16 km of coastline and it will have 20 hotels with more than 4000 keys in total. On completion, the city will be home to more than 200,000. Al Madina A'Zarqa offers all facilities and amenities one would want and need in a thriving metropolis.

Anantara, Al Madina A'Zarqa bagged the 'Best Hotel Design of the Year' from Kingdom Hotel Expansion and Investment Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on June 6-7, 2009.
