Dubai Customs inaugurates 41 inspectors who completed X-ray Detectors course

Mr. Mohammed Mattar Al Marri, Executive Director of Dubai Customs Cargo Operations has inaugurated 41 customs inspectors from Air Freight Department who had successfully completed a training course on x-ray detectors that was organized by Air Freight Department in cooperation with the Technical Support Department at Dubai Customs from May 10th-27th, 2009.

The inauguration ceremony was held in the Conference Hall at Dubai Cargo Village. Mr. Mohammed Mattar Al Marri, Executive Director of Dubai Customs Cargo Operations has rewarded the graduates as he handed them certificates of appreciation. Mr. Omar Al Mahiry, Senior Manager of Air Freight and Mr. Yousuf Mohammed Al Kaj, Senior Manager of the Technical Support Department at Dubai Customs attended the event as well.

Mr. Mohammed Mattar Al Marri extended his greetings to the inspectors who completed the course and praised their efforts to achieve social security in alignment with Dubai Customs objectives and strategy.

"The great role customs inspectors play giving their maximum efforts while dealing with millions of passengers and huge amounts of luggage is highly appreciated by both the upper management and all employees,"


Al Marri said.

He added: "Maintaining its worldwide reputation among customs inspection departments, Dubai Customs is keen on utilizing the most updated inspection equipment that help safeguard the community from contraband. X-ray detectors are a good example of such equipment as they meticulously and thoroughly scan luggage."

He also expressed his sincere wishes of success to the inspectors and stressed the importance of these specialized courses that aim to enhance abilities and develop employees' qualifications so that work can be nourished.

Mr. Yousuf Mohammed Al Kaj pointed out:" X-ray detector is a high-tech machine that helps inspect all kinds of luggage and products without opening them. The Department has different sizes of such a machine while the small one is used to check parcels and goods, the big ones examine garbage dumpsters, and these are fixed in all customs ports in Dubai."

Mr. Al Kaj added: "This highly advanced equipment plays a great role in protecting the local community from illegal goods. In addition, it provides clients with a fast service in comparison with the manual search."

Furthermore, he said that this course, that was specified for inspectors at Dubai Cargo Village, will not be the only one as it will be followed by others to include all customs inspectors at other customs ports."
