As one among the most frequented shopping malls in Dubai, Mercato this year hosted numerous activities in the first four weeks of DSS to ensure a series of attractions for shoppers and families alike. Apart from an increase in DSS sales, the mall witnessed a 23% hike in footfall for June compared to May.
Rana Jaser, PR & Corporate Communication Manager of Mercato & Town Centre Jumeirah, said:
"Despite the current circumstances, we were optimistic about DSS right from the start especially because the summer event constantly gives visitors and shoppers the right combination of shopping offers and family entertainment. By hosting some of the highlights of DSS, Mercato ensured that shoppers would be entertained throughout. The increase in footfall and sales is a direct reflection of how our shoppers have responded to this year's DSS."
World of Stories, a Signature Event of DSS 2009, was the first activity hosted by Mercato and attracted a host of children and families for twelve days of stage acts from popular children's tales and characters.
This was followed by the Jumeirah Giant Charity Cake Sale where a massive sale of over 3000 cakes was organised in the mall. Mercato also hosted Art Fiesta, an art exhibition by the noted Indian painter, Rupali Rao. Along with the exhibition, the event featured art workshops and other art activities for children.
Shoppers to Mercato also had the option of winning spectacular prizes as part of the promotions organised by the Dubai Shopping Malls Group during DSS.
