"We are replacing the gate because the view of it in its current location would have been blocked by the flyover which is being built in the area."
"We are committed to providing high quality services to the people of Bahrain and we are also keen on preserving heritage. For this reason that we decided to build a new gate similar to the old one and with the same specifications. The difference is that the new gate will be located 100 metres from Baghdad Avenue leading to Isa Town as this will ensure an appropriate and sufficient view of the gate," said Mr Al Salah.
The contractor responsible for removing the old gate is expected to finish work two weeks from the date of commencement, where some traffic diversions on Baghdad Avenue are expected to take place. The actual demolishing will commence on Sunday, 19 July, from 7am to 9pm, for a period of two weeks.
