HSBC announces new senior managers

HSBC Bank Middle East Qatar announced the appointment of two senior managers in the Qatar offices.

Tony Graham recently arrived in Doha from Lebanon where he headed HSBC's Personal Financial Services business and will perform the same role for HSBC in Qatar.

He has extensive experience in retail banking and has worked in Taiwan, Ireland, Singapore, China and Lebanon during his 10 year career with the group. Mr. Graham will be implementing initiatives to improve customer service and expand business among the Bank's key Status and Premier customer segments.

"We are enormously proud to have served Qatar for over 50 years and continuing to strengthen our relationships in the Qatari community is a top priority for me. Additionally, with HSBC's unrivalled global reach, no bank is better positioned to serve customers' banking needs in more than one country.
This gives us a clear right to win in among Qataris and expatriates alike and I look forward to joining up with our colleagues to grow these relationships in the months and years to come."

Jody Sanderson was appointed as Director, Global Banking in Qatar. Mr. Sanderson has extensive experience in global corporate banking including over 13 years in banking and finance with HSBC in Asia and North America.

Jody spent 3 years in Hong Kong in the bank's Asia Pacific multinational coverage team and most recently was with HSBC in Canada where he headed the multinational and larger corporate coverage group. In Qatar, he will lead the bank's corporate client coverage group which includes the Multinationals, Financial Institutions and government related clients. With a strong background in working with globally focused organizations, Jody Sanderson brings HSBC Qatar valuable experience that will assist in servicing HSBC's client base in Qatar.

"Qatar has been and will continue to be a highly important market for HSBC and one where many opportunities will exist for our clients. I see this as a great opportunity to work in one of the fastest growing economies globally and a place that is well positioned to withstand the current global economic challenges."

K V Prakashan was appointed as Senior Manager, Wholesale Credit Risk in Qatar. K V has extensive experience of more than 16 years in Corporate Banking and Credit Risk Management, including 9 years with HSBC Group in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and most recently in Qatar as the Director & Head of Global Banking coverage. In his new role, he will lead the Bank's wholesale risk management function in Qatar. With his strong background of working in different institutions spread across four geographies, K V is expected to add considerable value to HSBC's Credit & Risk Management function, when the banking sector, in general, is facing some testing times in the wake of the current global economic crisis.

"As one of the longest established banks in Qatar, HSBC has a significant wholesale banking presence in the country. Qatar is a very important market for HSBC and I view this appointment as a pro-active approach to strengthen the Bank's credit & risk function as well as corporate banking business in Qatar."

"It is a great privilege to be announcing these appointments in the senior management team of HSBC in Qatar. The team is strongly committed to business development in Qatar and with the experience on board I am confident that we will be able to provide the best products and services to our customers,"

said Abdul Hakeem Mostafawi, CEO of HSBC in Qatar.
