Sodic to open Egypt's first Angsana resort in Allegria

Sodic today signed a contract to bring the first Angsana resort to Egypt.

Scheduled to open in 2012, the Angsana resort in Cairo will be located within the exclusive Allegria development and will include a 100-room hotel, a destination spa, and a clubhouse situated amid Cairo's first signature golf course designed by Greg Norman.

The contract was signed by Ahmed Badrawi, Director of Business Development and Member of the Board of Sodic and Mr. Paul Chong, Vice President Business Development of Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts.

The resort will cover 31,373 square metres, offering an extensive selection of wellness, recreational and entertainment activities suitable for the entire family. The hotel features 100 guest rooms, including 30 suite rooms, swimming pools, as well as a wide range of dining and recreational options. Events and corporate meeting facilities include a large banquet hall and meeting rooms.

The exclusive Clubhouse will comprise a state-of-the-art-gym, yoga and aerobics rooms, an outdoor pool with hydrotherapy facilities, in addition to tennis and squash courts. The award-wining Angsana Spa offers a range of pampering Asia-inspired treatments designed to rejuvenate the body and mind. Allegria's golf course is already being managed by Troon Golf, the world's leading golf course management company, with over 200 international courses under management.

"We are very proud to introduce the first Angsana hotel to Egypt. In addition to serving the Allegria residents, the resort will be a retreat away from the congestion and pollution of the city for those who seek a unique experience,"
said Maher Maksoud, Managing Director of Sodic.

Mr. Ho KwonPing, Executive Chairman, Banyan Tree Holdings Limited noted, "The introduction of an Angsana resort in Egypt is in line with our global expansion strategy to bring the popular Angsana experience to our key markets. Complementing our two existing Angsana Spas in Egypt, this timely collaboration with SODIC allows us to bring Angsana's unique blend of contemporary chic, Asian heritage and vibrant enlivening experiences to our guests in this historic and celebrated locale."

The Angsana resort will be a short drive from the Pyramids, and will provide easy access to Alexandria as well as the Mediterranean Coast. In addition to being a spa destination, it is targeted at the meetings, incentives, conventions and events (MICE) market segment given the increasing number of multinational companies relocating to Sixth of October City area.

Construction of the resort is set to start shortly and is scheduled to be completed by 2012. Overall construction of Allegria units is ahead of schedule with units ready for delivery as of 2010. Moreover, the first nine holes of the Greg Norman signature course will be complete by June 2009 and the full 18 holes will be playable by autumn 2009.

"The new hotel, spa and clubhouse will be truly unique, and demonstrates our commitment to make such world-class facilities and services available to Allegria and Sodic's customers," said Ahmed Demerdash Badrawi, Chief Business Development Officer at Sodic.

Allegria recently recorded huge commercial success with the launch of its latest two residential phases this year. First in January when it practically sold out Phase IV townhouses in only two weeks, then last month with launching of Phase III 'The Hill' with its stunning new villas, townhouses and twinhouses.

The innovative units were designed by some of Egypt's most talented up-and-coming architects, including Shahira H. Fahmy, Tamer Anani and Laithy Mekawy. Sodic's recent impressive sales results came despite the current global economic conditions, confirming that there still is strong demand in Egypt for products that are meticulously designed with the customer in mind.

The project is one of the Sodic's many partnerships with world-leading names like Solidere International, Troon Golf, EDAW, Greg Norman and world renowned architects that work together to ensure the highest quality and convenience for Sodic's customers.
