Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank appoints Savesh Sarup as Head of Retail Banking Group

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), one of the region's leading Islamic bank, has appointed Sarvesh Sarup as Head of its Retail Banking Group.

Sarvesh has taken on the role of overseeing all the retail global banking activities and resources in addition to retail operations at all branches. Sarvesh is tasked with implementing the bank's aggressive retail expansion plans.

Sarvesh comes to ADIB with more than 23 years of experience in the financial services and banking industry out of which 20 years were spent with Citigroup where he held various senior positions in Europe and Asia.

Prior to joining ADIB, Sarvesh held the position of Head of Retail Banking and Customer Franchise Management for the Europe, Middle East and Africa Region in Citibank London from 2006 to 2008. His main responsibilities were overseeing all retail activities of the bank across 550 branches.

Sarvesh has held various leadership positions with Citigroup. He was Division Executive in London covering the UK and Germany branches from 2005 until 2006. He was CEO for the Consumer Bank in Citibank India overseeing all the business lines of the Bank from 2001 to 2005. He was also the Head of Strategy and Business Development in Citibank EMEA Region from 1999 until 2001.

Sarvesh was responsible of launching new branches for Citibank across the world in addition to launching new lines of business that helped in its growth.
