Sybase launches PowerBuilder 9.0 in the Middle East

Sybase Middle East recently held its latest eBD technology workshop in the UAE to launch PowerBuilder version 9.0 and celebrates 10 years of Rapid Application Development technology heritage.
This important workshop has been organized and sponsored by Sybase Middle East arising from the sense of commitment and responsibility towards their valuable customers in the region, delivering the best breed of Sybase technologies, solutions and services.

The new release of PowerBuilder 9.0 increases developers productivity with support for J2EE and Microsoft .NET, and integration with existing technology investments and business logic, as well as the latest enhancements that include the XML Data Window, Web Services, RAD Java Server Pages™ and third-party application server support. PowerBuilder 9.0 lays the groundwork for 4GLplus, the next generation of RAD environment from Sybase.
This version of Sybase's industry-leading rapid application development (RAD) tool enables developers to continue building rich-client applications for their mission-critical business requirements and at the same time propel them further into Web and N-tier development with significant new capabilities. As it lays the foundation for "4Gplus", the next RAD environment from Sybase will bring an even higher level of developer productivity through tight integration of design, modeling, development, deployment and management.

Delegates and attendees showed a keen interest in using PowerBuilder 9.0 and its new features.
The agenda of the workshop started with Sybase corporate strategy update, highlighting Sybase vision and solutions update for year 2003 given by Lara Kayali, Marketing & Media Manager, Sybase Middle East. Also the workshop focused closely on demonstrating the latest features of PowerBuilder 9.0 that include RAD JavaServer Page (JSP) Targets , the use of Web Services, XML DataWindow , PowerBuilder Native Interface, the Document Object Model, as well as extending and moving the entire PowerBuilder applications to the web automatically using Sybase Appeon product.
"The new release of PowerBuilder 9.0 heralds the beginning of 4GLplus, an open RAD tool for heterogeneous deployment environments, in addition, this release provides capabilities for the J2EE and Microsoft.NET environments, as well as a tighter integration with PowerDesigner 9.5," said Yves Khoneisser - Regional Technical Manager, Sybase Middle East.
