The new Porsche Cayenne Model Range made its Bahrain debut when it was launched in a glittering ceremony at Gulf International Convention & Exhibition Centre - Gulf Hotel, on 25th February, 2003. The Cayenne marks Porsche's entry into the sports utility segment and offers the same high standard of motoring comfort, superior engineering performance and exceptional design that one has come to associate with Porsche the world over.

At the launch, which was held under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, a large contingent of Bahrain's glitterati including some of the most ardent car enthusiasts were invited to witness the introduction of this stunning new member to the Porsche family.

"Porsche's engineers have developed two sports utility vehicles: the Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo and both models fulfil all the rigorous demands one can rightly make of a Porsche in terms of performance, dynamic driving characteristics, and all-round safety," remarked Mr Khalid Janahi, General Manager of Behbehani Brothers, agents for Porsche in Bahrain.

The consistent pledge to high technology and supreme power is borne out by the Cayenne's outstanding design features that are definitive of its rich heritage. Currently both Cayennes are equipped with Porsche's newly developed Tiptronic S transmission featuring six gears whereas the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) standard on both models is crucial to the Cayenne's dynamic performance on both smooth and rough roads.

Porsche Stability Management (PSM) featured as standard both in the Cayenne S and the Cayenne Turbo interacts consistently with PTM but only intervenes when the vehicle is driven to the extreme limit, stabilising the Cayenne by applying the brakes as required on specific wheels. Air suspension standard on the Turbo and on the Cayenne S automatically lowers the entire vehicle as a function of increasing speed, thus offering maximum driving pleasure combined with superior safety.

Yet another new feature fitted as standard is Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a variable damping system offered in combination with air suspension, that controls damper forces with the precision of the most sophisticated electronic system.

The new Cayenne uses an innovative technology for exchanging multimedia data: the Media-Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) data bus. It enables the exchange and transmission of data from one component to another without the slightest loss of quality and at maximum speed. The radio, CD changer, amplifiers for the sound packages and the telephone modules are all interconnected by MOST light wave conductors.

Porsche's new Communication Management (PCM) comes with a 6.5 inch TFT colour display screen, a double tuner, CD player, route navigation system, trip computer and a GSM dual band telephone, which are all connected to one another by the MOST data bus.

Another feature standard in the Cayenne Turbo and now entering the market for the first time is the Bose Surround Sound System providing an unprecedented 360 degree sound experience like in a large cinema.

"It has to be agreed that the Cayenne truly fulfils Porsche's commitment to offer the most superior driving experience," said Mr Janahi.

Behebehani Brothers have been agents for Porsche for over a decade and have developed a dedicated clientele owing to their strong customer-oriented focus and an uncompromising emphasis on quality service at all times.
