Kuwaiti delegation visits Dubai Customs and Dubai Ports

Dubai Customs and Dubai Ports recently received a Kuwaiti delegation comprising a number of officials from the customs, environment and industry authorities in Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti delegation visited Dubai Customs and Dubai Ports to learn about their expertise in the field of managing, storing and turning in threatening items.

Mr. Saeed Alzari, Trade Department Manager at Dubai Ports World welcomed the delegation:
"This visit expresses the mutual interest in reinforcing cooperation and coordination efforts and exchanging expertise as well as strengthening the solid relations among all sides. We sincerely wish them a fruitful visit."


Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim Foolad, Non Proliferation of WMD Unit Manager at Dubai Customs has welcomed the delegation as he confirmed the Department's willingness to provide the Kuwaiti delegation with its expertise in the field of combating weapons of massive destruction as well as the monitoring systems in order to be benefited from.

During the meeting that was held between the delegation and Customs and Ports officials, a presentation on how to establish stores for threatening items and how to manage, store and turn them in through the technical systems was given to the delegation, such an experience is considered the first of its kind in the region.

Subsequently, on a fieldtrip to the Ports, the Kuwaiti delegation was accompanied to learn about locations of storing dangerous items, dumpsters' yards and subsequent premises. The delegation was also acquainted with the security systems and the adopted safety, transportation and storing measures in those premises.

On the sideline of the visit, the delegation was escorted to Dubai International Airport as they were received by Mr. Ali Al Mugahwi, Director of Passengers Operation Department in Dubai Customs to check on the premises at the Airport and to inform about the implemented monitoring and safety systems for transfer movements of both, passengers and goods.

At the end of the visit, Head of the Kuwaiti delegation, Majid Ahmad Al Qamlas, Head of Customs Affairs at the General Department of Kuwait Customs praised Dubai Customs and Dubai Ports for the high level of development they enjoy, the use of hi-tech methods utilized at the premises as well as the excellent expertise that can be benefited from. Mr. Al Qamlas has also thanked Dubai Customs and Dubai Ports for their hospitality and the fruitful cooperation they showed.
