Coordination team from UAE Foreign Ministry reviews preparations made for Dubai 2003

A team from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs that is responsible for coordinating with officials from Dubai 2003 has reviewed the preparations being made to host the 58th annual meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group and IMF in Dubai in September, during a meeting with General Coordinator of Dubai 2003, Mr. Ibrahim Belselah.

The special Coordination Team that has been formed at the UAE Foreign Ministry is entrusted with the responsibility of coordinating with officials from Dubai 2003 to help ensure the success of this prestigious event. The team is led by Mr. Mohamed Abdallah Al Hajiri, Deputy Director of the Economic Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In addition to Mr. Al Hajiri, other members of the Coordination Team who were present at the meeting with Mr. Belselah included Mr.Yousif Mohamed Al Madfai, Yousif Al Zaabi, Hasan Al Hosani,Tareq Al Zaabi and Mr. Rashid Mohammed Al Mudarej.

Mr. Belselah presented an overview of the preparations being made for the annual meetings and also showed the members of the Coordination Team the spectacular television commercial, "Winds of Change" that has been produced by Dubai 2003 to promote the UAE, which has been chosen to host the annual meetings this year, to international audiences.

Mr. Belselah and the Coordination Team members also discussed the various staff and key personnel who will be working for Dubai 2003 before and during the event, and the coordination that is being made with UAE embassies and consulates abroad to help facilitate the issuing of visas to delegates, who will be participating at the two meetings in September.

Following the meeting, Mr. Belselah accompanied the Foreign Ministry team on a visit to the state-of-the-art Dubai International Convention Centre - the venue for the Annual Meetings.

The Annual Meetings of the Boards of Governors of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund were first held in Washington DC in 1946. They are hosted by an international city one year in three. Dubai and the UAE were selected because of its highly developed transportation and logistics infrastructure, growing importance as a financial hub and its established position as an oasis of opportunity.
