UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade appoints new director for Department of Regional and International Trade Organizations

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade has announced the appointment of Badir A. Almusharrekh as a director of the Department of Regional and International Trade Organizations, as part of Ministry efforts to enhance institutional performance throughout its various departments.

The move is also in line with the government's plan of increasing efficiency throughout its institutions through the inclusion of persons with extensive experience and competencies who can realize positive change.

Almusharrekh holds a MA in Global Business Strategy from London Metropolitan University, UK.

He also holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Dubai, and is preparing to obtain a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Bradford, UK.

He worked in the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation, where he served as head of external planning from 1996 to 2006. He also worked for Dubai World's Dubai Maritime City Company from 2007 and 2009, in addition to serving as a graduate trainee in the Department of Economic Development in Dubai.

The Department of Regional and International Trade Organizations follows up meetings held by regional and international organizations concerned with foreign trade.

It monitors ensuing technical committees and examines their agendas, provides relevant feedback, and follows up the execution of decisions in coordination and collaboration with other entities in the country.

In addition, the Department provides suggestions and recommendations to support collaboration with international organizations based on the State's political and commercial priorities. It also submits and follows up suggestions on issues concerning the agenda of technical committees formed by international organizations involved in foreign trade, as well as develops necessary memorandums and informs concerned entities of the results of committee meetings.

Other duties of the Department include following up the Ministry's participation in joint committees and representing the State in these committees, and preparing regular reports on the activities and approved decisions of international organizations.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade had earlier appointed new directors in a number of its key departments, including the Department of International Organizations Management, the Department of Strategic Planning and Performance, and the Department of Trade Policy.
